Advanced Spanish – It’s hard to believe that we are quickly approaching the end of the school year.  Track 1 is almost through all their material and we will begin reviewing for the Spanish Exit Exam by next week. and  the Final is scheduled for May 15 and 16 during class periods.  I will be giving the test since it will involve listening and speaking parts in addition to writing and multiple choice questions.  A reminder that final grade for Spanish 1 will be based on 40% – 1st semester, 40% – 2nd semester and 20% – Final Exam.  If students pass the final with a 70% and pass Spanish 1 they will receive High School credit.

Tracks – 2, 3, 4, will be taking their Final Exam on June 12 and 13.

Hola,  Here we are in 4th quarter and school will be over before we realize.  I was told that my grades were not showing in SPAN so I have checked everything I have in my end and they should be available to viewing sometime tonight.

Advanced Spanish classes had a wonderful ending to La Comida unit.  We tried many different Latin American foods during the luncheon they had before track out.  Cuban Sandwiches (their favorites) arroz con gandules, platanos maduros, yucca, y pollo a la parilla.  Ask the students about it!

We are now working on our last two chapter sections, 6A and 7A before we beginning our year review for the final exam.  Explanation of grading and Final Exam dates will be sent home soon by separate letter.

Beginning Spanish classes are finally getting to start working from their Spanish textbooks.  We are starting to work with chapter 1A shortly and students have been reviewing for a cumulative test shortly.  Please encourage your child to speak Spanish whenever possible since talking in Spanish is usually difficult because students are afraid of making mistakes.  Practice makes perfect!

Beginning Spanish:  Welcome back Track 3.  Glad to see you remember much of what we had learned.  We did a quick review of material and we are ready to move into our first conversation.  We will be writing down the script and working on classroom presentations next week.

Track 1 will be working on the calendar.  We will be learning the days of the week, months and we will create our personal birthday calendar.

Track 4 -  We are off to a good start.  We will have our first quiz on the alfabeto and numeros next week and then move on to colors.

Advanced Spanish: Tracks 3 & 4 are finishing up Chapter 5A and we will be taking our Chapter test on Tuesday.  We will then continue with Las Fiestas on part 5B.

Track 1 is almost finished with Chapter 5B and next week they will be working on a short script and presenting on Tuesday.  Review day for the chapter is Wednesday and they will have their test on Thursday.  Students are now getting a two-part test – multiple choice questions and a short essay writing prompt.  This is in preparation for the final exam since that will be one of the requirements.

Hasta Luego!

Hola -  Welcome to all my new Beginning Spanish classes.  We have had a great start by learning our Spanish alphabet.  Be prepared to hear the Army Marching song as the students practice the letters and their sounds.  This week we will learn to count up to 100 and on Friday there will be a quiz on our letter and numbers.

Advanced Spanish classes – We have been working on Chapter 5A.  We started researching about fiestas and writing a 3 paragraph essay.  We will continue to work from our book and take a chapter test on Friday.

Hola – You now have the ability to choose automatic updates.  Once you sign up any posts will be sent to your email account.  Easy way to stay updated.

Track 4 and 3 Beginning Spanish classes will be taking a test this Thursday on Chapter 1B.  We have been working on this chapter for a while and are ready to finish.  We are a little behind our curriculum this time but I am satisfied that students have mastered all we have covered so far.

Advanced Spanish students have been working on Fold-ables which are review work for chapters 3 and 4.  I want to send time reviewing now to lessen the pressure for the Spanish Exit exam.

Hola – This week seemed to pass by quickly.  To catch us up:

Track 4 – Beginning Spanish will be taking Chapter test 1A.  We have been reviewing our work in class for the last two days.  We will then continue on and begin Chapter 1B that will focus on descriptive adjectives about ourselves.  This chapter should go quickly so I am planning the test for Chapter 1B early the following week.

Track 1-3 We will be beginning our next unit on Tuesday.  That should bring us up to the end of the week with Chapter 1B and their test will be the following Monday.

Advanced Spanish students are working on their speaking abilities.  I will be assessing and assigning some in class projects that will require students to answer prompts orally on topics we have already covered.

Track 4 students will be finishing Chapter 4B and taking a test during the week.

Adios

Hola – This week all my Beginning Spanish classes will be starting to work from our Realidades textbook.  I only have a class set but the textbook can be downloaded online from www.realidades.com.  It is the level one book.

The first chapter is Para Empezar and it is a review of all the work that was done in Quarter 1.  On Friday students will take a cummulative test of this material.

Advanced Spanish will continue working on Capitulo 4B – Activities we like to do during our free time with friends and family.

Have a nice week.
