BST/AST Meeting on 12/10/14

Participants: Rob King, Sharon Freenor, Penny Ward

Quarter SMART Goal: BST/AST will use proactive measures (Flybys, Drop ins, and in class resource) to decrease student removals from class

Minutes: We want the student to learn to keep up with their work completion deadlines before the reportcard deadline. The often may have the assignements but do not hand them in. Through increased agenda checks and SAM review, we will monitor work completion and assignments that are due.
We will know they have learned this functional skill when their academic progress reflects it.

When they haven’t demonstrated this skill, we know to do further reteaching of good study habits and increased pull-outs during lunch periods for work completeion.

BST/AST Meeting on 12/07/2010

Participants: Rob King, Penny Ward, Sharon Freenor

Quarter SMART Goal: BST/AST will use proactive measures (Flybys, Drop ins, and in class resource) to decrease student removals from class

Minutes: Penny Ward shared with the team information from the County Wide BST quarterly meeting on 12-1-10 concerning the data needed when writing an Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavioral Intervention Plan. Academics and work completion are best addressed in a goal not in the BIP. Mrs. Ward shared defining the function of a behavior and to keep in mind that the Behavioral Intervention Plan is a plan for the adults. It is a written plan that guides the adults as to how they will deal the student differently that what had ben done in the past. All three of us discussed upcoming training sessions we would like to attend this spring and summer.

We want the students in AST/BST to learn replacement behaviors.

Data collections, on Flybys, Drop ins, logs, crisis plans, talking with teachers are examples of how we can measure what the students have learned.

We continue to provide support, reassess BIP reviews and strategies that are currently in place. We also continue to model the desired behaviors.

When the student’s have learned it we re-evaluate what works and continue the reinforcers in place that are successful

BST/AST Meeting on 11/23/2010

Participants: Rob King, Penny Ward

Quarter SMART Goal: Quarter SMART Goal: BST/AST will use proactive measures (Fly-bys, drop-ins and in-class resource) to decrease student removals from class

Minutes: We want the students to remain in class as much as possible by increasing pro-active measures.

In November, BST has increased its proactive measures to 63 Fly-bys, 108 Drop ins, and 198 in-class resource assists.

In November-to date- we have had only 22 BST removals versus 44 in the month of October. We have three class days remaining.

With the reduction in removals, BST proactive measures and social skill instruction is currently being effective in decreasing removals.

BST/AST Meeting on 11/09/2010

Participants: Penny Ward, Rob King and Sharon Freenor

Quarter SMART Goal: BST/AST will use proactive measures (Fly-bys, drop-ins and in-class resource) to decrease student removals from class.

Minutes: We (BST/AST)want the children to learn we provide a safe environment to achieve academic, behavioral and social goals. This is based upon a relationship of trust between the staff and the students.

We know the students have learned it when they are able to follow the protocol for classroom and hallway transition. When they view us as advocates they then would be able to further their own self-advocacy skills.

When the students have not learned the skill, we must go to social skills lessons and activities that build trust. As role models we have mean what we say. Our words have to be supported by our actions.

When the students have learned that we are a safe and trusting source they must be rewarded in a way that appeals to their individual interests. It has to be a motivating factor for them.

BST/AST Meeting on 11/02/2010

Participants: Penny Ward, Rob King and Sharon Freenor

Quarter SMART Goal: Quarter SMART Goal: BST/AST will use proactive measures (Fly-bys, drop-ins and in-class resource) to decrease student removals from class.

Minutes: We want the children to learn self regulating behaviors and compliance to redirections.

We will we know they have learned it by fewer period detentions and daily stabilizations in BST/AST.

If they have not learn it we will conduct social stories, modeling, lessons on classroom engagement with peers and adults. We also would give the students more restictions to their behavior plans, more frequent drop-ins and more direct instruction.

We offer the student less restrictive services and lessen restrictions in their behavior plans.

Ms. Ward shared with her colleagues two documents that can be used to measure behavior frequency counting.

Also during the PLT meeting Ms. Ward discussed multiple communcations with a parent whose child is on home/hospital. The dilemma lies in the parent not responding to communication. We discussed covering ourselves in reference to parents and IEP expectations.
