We will be doing a three week unit on Wonder starting October 1. Track 4 will do the same 3 week unit when they track back in. We will conclude the unit with a paideia semiar. We are relating the novel to our common core unit, “Genre Odyssey: Coming of Age.”

Minutes: Grammar- We will not create a common summative assessment yet, until we get to where we are teaching the same grammar skills (starting next week). We would like to look into flipping our grammar lessons. All grammar will be done in context so as to make the learning relavent to students.
CASE Benchmark Assessment- Stephens is administering the assessment tomorrow; we are all concerned about the grammar portion of the assessment and trying to catch students up.

Minutes: We discussed Del Toro’s Article of the Week activities and quarter one grammar goals.
Next week, we will create a common assessment for quarter one grammar skills (summative grade).
In two weeks, we will analyze data from our Unit 1 Tests.

Minutes: 1. Unit 1 & 2 Recap– Track 1 & 3 will take Unit Tests next week. Track 4 will take the Unit Test in two weeks.
2. Writer’s Notebooks– Richardson shared information on Writer’s Workshops, per last PLT’s discussion. We would like to implement this next year.
3. Tagxedo Gallery Walk– Richardson’s students will finish the project 9/14 and Tracks 1 & 3 will do a gallery walk of the projects sometime that next week before we assign our Tagxedo projects.
4. Article of the Week– Richardson & Stephens use “Breaking News English” for their AoWs. Richardson assigns on Thursday and the annotation is due the following Thursday. Baker has been finding articles related to class discussions, hands them out on Monday and has them turn in a two paragraph response on the following Friday. We all really like trying to implement a class discussion of the articles and finding ones that are engaging to the students, which “Breaking News English.”

Minutes: 1. We looked at the Unit Test and finalized it. Everyone has a paper copy and digital copy.
2. Becky shared some documents she created for the Narrative Essay. Everyone has a paper and digital copy.
3. Becky brought up possibly doing a Writer’s Workshop for next year.
4. Laura would like to do a gallery walk for their Taxgedo projects.
