Quarter SMART Goal: BST/AST will use proactive measures (Fly-bys, drop-ins and in-class resource) to decrease student removals from class.
Minutes: We (BST/AST)want the children to learn we provide a safe environment to achieve academic, behavioral and social goals. This is based upon a relationship of trust between the staff and the students.
We know the students have learned it when they are able to follow the protocol for classroom and hallway transition. When they view us as advocates they then would be able to further their own self-advocacy skills.
When the students have not learned the skill, we must go to social skills lessons and activities that build trust. As role models we have mean what we say. Our words have to be supported by our actions.
When the students have learned that we are a safe and trusting source they must be rewarded in a way that appeals to their individual interests. It has to be a motivating factor for them.
