DOLPHIN READERS
The Dolphin Readers are a student library media advocacy group who meet during Dolphin Wednesdays in the media center. These students represent a variety of tracks and grade levels, discuss great books, develop and plan media center programs, and provide input for selecting materials.

The Dolphin Readers have been busy planning for Teen Read Week, which runs October 18-24, 2009. Students have formed mini committees and have been planning a school-wide scavenger hunt, a bookmark contest, and a costume contest. All activities revolve around the theme, Reading Beyond Reality @ Your Library.
Students have also assisted in selection recommendations for media center purchases this school year. They brainstormed lists of popular celebrities, athletes, and musicians to update our biography collection with high-interest titles. Students also wrote down specific fiction titles, authors, and series they think should be added to the collection. These "student selection experts" have provided valuable choices to include in this year's media center book orders.
Dolphin Readers Homework ~ Due by Wednesday, October 7
Design a poster for YOUR book display that will be on top of one of the media center shelves during Teen Read Week. Posters must meet the following criteria:
8.5 X 11” sheet of paper
Neatly drawn or created on the computer
Include the theme, “Read Beyond Reality” somewhere on your poster.
Save your poster on a flash drive and bring it with you on Wednesday, October 7 or you can e-mail it to Ms. Ziller (kziller@wcpss.net) before the 7th. Posters can be turned in anytime between now and the 7th.
Please come with a list of at least three books IN THE DRMS MEDIA CENTER COLLECTION that match the theme of your poster and you would like included in your display. Be creative! We look forward to seeing your posters and having them decorate the media center!
