Newbery Book Club
The Newbery Club is a unique opportunity for students to read and discuss newly published books written for middle grade readers. The purpose is to select the one “most distinguished” book published during the year, using official Newbery selection guidelines.
- Students who join the club and their parents should understand and agree to the following guidelines:
- Members will be responsible for attending scheduled meetings every other week in the media center during their lunch period and are responsible for coming the the media center that morning to pick up their Media Center Fast Pass.
- Members will be responsible for reading 6 books between August 2009 and January 2010.
- Members will complete a green Reader Review sheet for the 6 books that they read. They will share their reading experiences with their parents and with other Newbery Club members.
- Members will be responsible students in the classroom and will model Durant PBS behavior inside and outside the classroom.
The deadline for students to join the 09-10 DRMS Newbery Club is Thursday, August 20. Please see Ms. Ziller to pick up a club application or if you have any questions. We'll see you in the media center!
